Intelligent control, analysis and
management of critical building systems
Vericon Systems is a technology provider that puts the client at the heart of its business. It develops products, systems and solutions - targeted at some of the UK’s largest Housing Associations, Care Providers and Corporates - to control, measure and manage a range of building technologies, from emergency lights to boilers.
In doing so, it enables its customers to realise real efficiencies, and create preventative maintenance programmes that not only save money in the long term, but also ensure they meet their legal and regulatory obligations around compliance.
The products we design are only one part of the solution; the essential ‘glue’ that puts the ‘smart’ into our smart solutions and the intelligence behind the information you gather is a proprietary technology we call VS: Connect.
VS: Connect is a highly-secure cloud-based data processing and machine learning hub at the centre of all of Vericon Systems’ solutions.
Encrypted Data from Vericon’s emergency lighting, fire alarm and associated automated testing technologies installed at the edge, including our connected boiler control product, is gathered and interrogated to determine known correlations, data fluctuations against user-defined criteria, and anomalies that may be linked to future failures.
VS: Connect also analyses subsequent engineer reports to understand the causality of the initial alert, understanding that an alert from one sensor may be caused by a different device on site.
In the future, the system will not only look for correlations in data fluctuations but also be able to indicate the actual fault and detail the parts required to effect a repair.
When an alert is sent, it is flagged on the alarms page of the VS:Connect portal. The faulty light, alarm or boiler will be shown in a RED state indicating that a repair needs to be carried out.
When the engineer has completed his work, the repair is logged as the actual fault found, the works carried out and parts used. This information allows VS:Connect to understand the causality of the initial alert. It means that future faults can be instantly addressed, sending the engineer on site with the information and the parts required for a first-time fix.
VS:Connect operates a triple layer commissioning process to ensure only authorised devices are allowed to connect to the mesh network.
Data collected by VS:Connect can be interrogated by a user, with the correct access rights, at any time of the day or night. The searches can be date, device or property-limiting and downloaded in various formats to ensure that crucial compliance documentation is always kept up-to-date. Searches can also be used to show device history or reoccurring problems.
When an alarm is flagged, a notification is sent to the alarm responder. This may be the help desk or the on-call engineer. The system will then continue to monitor the alarm status and if the issue hasn’t been rectified within the agreed timeframe of the Service Level Agreement (SLA), VS: Connect will autonomously escalate the alert to a higher level.
