We are constantly evolving and innovating new ways of helping building managers and social landlords improve the lives of their tenants and building users. Whether this be through ensuring emergency light compliance or remote boiler monitoring, our innovative technology is limitless and creates life-changing results that positively impact our clients and their customers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading technology specialist for remote monitoring and management of buildings. With sectors moving towards net carbon zero as well as trends showing a drive for better efficiencies and customer-focused wellbeing, connected technologies are going to become the foremost way to monitor and manage building portfolios.

Ready to be a part of the revolutionary change for social housing? Vericon Systems is the place for you.

Your Day to Day:

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic React developer with a passion for creating solutions that are beautiful and robust, to users and developers alike. You may not have previously led, but you will have designed and implemented successful responsive and mobile-first web apps. You will have an eye for good design, understand what makes a good user experience and be aware what makes for good API design. You must be able to plan and manage your own backlog of work; extract Minimum Viable Product from requirements and communicate progress with others in the company.

Your key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • You will take the lead on our client facing portals and applications which are single page React applications with an API backend built in C# Azure Functions with Auth0 JWT for authentication.

  • You will need to get involved in the full software lifecycle, so you will also be creating unit & integration tests, and automating Azure Devops build and release pipelines etc.

  • From time to time, you will need to work on back-end, although normally this would be limited to work on the Rest API.

  • This is a fast packed, friendly, enthusiastic, creative, cutting-edge, start-up environment. You will need to get stuck in from day one and you should expect and enjoy a steep learning curve.

This is not an exhaustive list, and you are expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and requested by your line manager or above. This list is subject to periodic review and may be amended to meet the growing needs of the business. The post holder will be expected to participate in this process and aim to reach an agreement on any changes.

Who we are looking for:
  • You have at least one-year full time as a React Typescript developer using modern React implementation (functional components over class based).

  • You have some understanding of Redux.

  • Someone with good CSS, HTML skills ideally coupled with Styled Components

  • Knowledge of well-designed Rest APIs

  • Experience with OAuth and JWT especially Autho0.

  • Git version control.

  • You are a great communicator, both spoken and written, and able to stay calm under pressure.

  • An individual who takes the initiative to get the job done in a timely manner, able to prioritise and multitask.

  • Someone who is receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embraces continuous improvement.

  • You are a team player, helpful, approachable, and able to build strong working relationships with colleagues, maintaining a positive working environment.

  • A detail oriented individual, who is driven in achieving a standard of excellence within our work processes and outcomes, following company policies and guidance. You should be cost conscious, whilst thinking of better ways of doing things.

  • Someone who is efficient, plans ahead and manages their time well.

  • A willingness to be flexible in their approach to working hours

It is desirable if you have experience with:

  • Responsive design, ideally with mobile web app experience

  • Agile, sprints, backlogs and sprint planning.

  • Front-end Unit/Integration testing.

  • ES Linting

  • Web security, OWASP.

  • UI/UX design experience, ideally with Figma

  • Writing and consuming Rest APIs, postman, swagger.

  • Visualisation/charting libraries such as VISX or Apex Charts.

  • VS Code or similar IDE experience

  • Basic C#.net core development.

What we offer:
  • Competitive Salary based on experience

  • A holiday package of 25 days paid annual leave plus eight English Public Holidays

  • A diverse and friendly work environment with a close-knit team

  • Company pension scheme

  • Free on-site parking
